Keith

Meet Keith
A Champion for Accessibility and Equality

Keith is a Royal Navy veteran who was medically discharged in 1973 after an accident left him disabled and a wheelchair user.
Keith and his wife Jean have been together for nearly 44 years, over 38 of them as husband and wife. They have two daughters and seven grandchildren. Keith enjoys making silver jewellery and hopes to turn it into a small business when he retires next year.

Keith is a graduate of the University of the Highlands and Islands in business and accounts and graduated in Inclusive Environmental Access and Design from Heriot-Watt University where he is an alumni member. He is also a qualified Trainer with an Advanced Diploma in Training.
Keith has been involved with the Centre for Inclusive Living for Perth and Kinross (CILPK) and its predecessor, Perth and Kinross Access Panel, since 1982. He has held various positions, including nearly 14 years as convener, and has worked tirelessly to improve accessibility and life experiences for disabled people.
Keith is an expert in accessibility, equality, and inclusive design. He currently works as an Equalities and Access Officer and plans to retire in February 2025, although his dedication to the rights of disabled people makes this uncertain.
For over 40 years, Keith has been passionate about ensuring that people are judged by their abilities, not their disabilities. He believes that everyone, regardless of their background, has the right to live a life of quality, passion, desire, and hope.
Keith is a disability champion for CILPK and also works for another charity across Scotland and in Ukraine, a country and people he deeply respects. He considers Scotland his home but shares a passionate connection with Ukraine, where his Rotary Club is in Lviv and where he has many friends and colleagues.
